Select a touch up pen for fine chips and narrow marks, a 30ml brush bottle for larger chips and short scratches, or an aerosol for broader localised repairs. Use primer where bare metal or plastic is exposed. Metallic, pearl and basecoat colours may also require clear lacquer to restore gloss and protect the colour.

Before ordering, locate the manufacturer’s paint code or provide the registration, make, model and year so the finish can be checked. A colour name alone can refer to several formulas, and paint can change slightly through age, polishing and sun exposure. Shake or stir the product thoroughly and test it in an inconspicuous area before completing the repair.

To achieve the best finish, clean and degrease the surface, allow it to dry and apply several thin coats instead of one heavy layer. Let each coat flash off before continuing and avoid building a raised blob above the surrounding paint. Allow the repair to cure fully before washing or polishing.
