Car Paint Help & FAQs

Everything you need to know about paint matching, application, delivery, and support before and after you order.

Paint & Colour Basics

What is an OEM code?

An OEM code is the original paint code used by the manufacturer. It tells us the exact colour formula for your vehicle so we can mix the correct paint match.

Can I find my paint colour by registration?

Yes. Enter your registration and we will match your vehicle to the correct paint colour where available. This is the easiest and most accurate method.

What if I already have my paint code?

You can search directly using your paint code. This is the most accurate way to ensure you receive the correct colour.

Will the colour be an exact match?

We mix paint to the original manufacturer formula. However, factors like age, sun exposure, and previous repairs can slightly affect how your car looks compared to fresh paint.

Application & Usage

How do I apply touch-up paint?

Clean the area, apply thin layers of paint, allow drying time between coats, and finish with lacquer if needed. Multiple light coats give the best result.

Do I need lacquer?

Yes for most repairs. Lacquer protects the paint and gives it a gloss finish to match your car.

Do I need primer?

Only if the scratch goes down to bare metal, plastic, or filler. Light scratches usually don’t need primer.

Why is my aerosol not spraying?

This is usually a blocked nozzle. Remove it and clear it with a pin or swap it with a spare nozzle. We can send replacements if needed.

Why does my colour look different?

Some paints (especially metallic or pearl) change depending on lighting and angle. Also, older paint on your car may have faded over time.

Products & Options

What products do you offer?

We supply touch-up pens, bottles, aerosol sprays, primers, lacquers, and full repair kits.

What’s the difference between a pen, bottle and aerosol?

Touch-up pens are for small chips. Bottles are for slightly larger areas. Aerosols are best for bigger repairs or panels.

Do you do 3-stage or pearl paints?

Yes. Some colours require multiple layers. In these cases, additional stages may need to be purchased separately.

How long does delivery take?

UK delivery usually takes 2–4 working days from dispatch. Orders are made to order before shipping.
