What is the paint code for this colour?

This vehicle-colour record lists 1279.

Will this paint match my vehicle?

The paint is mixed to the selected paint-code reference. Check the vehicle, model year and code because the same colour name can be used for different paint formulas.

Do I need primer or lacquer?

Use primer where bare metal or plastic is exposed. Clear lacquer is normally used where the original finish is clear-coated and additional gloss and protection are required.

What repair is touch up paint best for?

Touch up paint is designed for small stone chips, scratches and localised paint damage. Larger panels are normally better suited to an aerosol repair system.

Car Touch-Up Paint FAQs

How do you match the paint to my vehicle?

We use your registration, paint code and manufacturer paint data to identify the factory paint formula for your vehicle. Vehicle age, fading, previous paintwork and colour variants can affect the final visible match, so we recommend testing the colour before completing the repair.

Where can I find my vehicle's paint code?

The paint code is commonly shown on a label or plate in the door shut, under the bonnet, inside the boot or in the owner's handbook. You can also use our paint code finder guide.

What if I don't know my paint code?

Start with our registration lookup. Where manufacturer data is available, we can identify the relevant vehicle colour information. If a vehicle has more than one possible colour variant, we may need the paint code or additional vehicle details.

Which product should I use?

Pen: best for stone chips and fine scratches. Bottle: best for scratches, chips and small localised areas. Aerosol: best for bumpers, panels and larger repair areas.

Do I need primer or lacquer?

Primer is recommended where the damage has exposed bare metal or plastic. Lacquer is normally required over metallic and pearlescent basecoats and can also improve protection and gloss where the original finish uses a clear coat.

How should I apply touch-up paint?

Clean and degrease the repair first, apply light coats rather than one heavy coat, allow suitable drying time between coats and finish with lacquer where required. Always test the colour and application method on a discreet area first.

How quickly will my order be dispatched?

Our vehicle paints are mixed to order and are normally dispatched within 1–2 working days. Available delivery services and estimated timings are shown at checkout.

How to use the Scratch Repair Paint

Simple steps for a Perfect Paint Finish

Do this in three simple steps...

✔Prep & Prime

✔Apply Colour

✔Finish with Lacquer

STEP 1 Prep & Prime

Preparation:
Clean the area thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, or wax.
Make sure the surface is completely dry before painting.
Light sanding (if needed) will help smooth rough edges and improve adhesion.

Primer Application:
Apply a thin, even coat of primer over the repaired area.
Allow it to dry fully before adding additional coats or moving to colour.
For deeper damage or bare metal/plastic, multiple thin coats may be required.

STEP 2 Apply the Colour Coat

Colour Application:
Apply light, even layers of colour to build up coverage gradually.
Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
Continue adding thin coats until the repaired area matches the surrounding surface.

STEP 3 Finish with Lacquer / Clear Coat

Application:
After the colour coat is fully dry, apply thin layers of clear coat.
Let each layer dry before applying the next.
Allow the final coat to cure fully before washing or polishing the area.
